Wholistic
Wholistic means taking into consideration your body, mind, emotions, community, society and environment.
It's shown that how you think impacts your hormones, and your immune system, and your emotions; all of it is linked.
By taking a wholistic approach, we know that by treating one aspect, that other elements will be affected too.
The program also recognises that your personal journey is unique, and important. In many sections there is space for you to share your lived experience to help others.

Co-authored with Rebekah Russell

Rebekah Russell is a trauma informed naturopath, wellness program creator and facilitator, and has worked as a Blackmores Advisory naturopath for over a decade. She is also an ex- theology student who grew up in country NSW. This gave her an abiding love for nature and community.
Rebekah created her first well-being program in 2016 as a response to the mental health crisis facing the local veteran population and began research into how complementary therapies can support those experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and ultimately how a holistic healing approach supports resilience and personal growth.
The well-being programs provided a framework using the pillars of holistic well-being: nutrition, mindset, sleep, movement, mindfulness, community and the environment- with a specific focus on evidence-based complementary therapies that have been studied in the treatment of PTSD.
Being trauma informed or trauma aware is a recognition that that most of the population have been affected by trauma and having the compassionate understanding that many behaviours and symptoms are the result of adverse life events. It is asking the question “What happened to you?”, in the place of asking “What is wrong with you?”
Trauma aware principles include creating a felt sense of safety, establishing trustworthiness, ensuring choice and collaboration, engendering hope, empowerment and modelling respect for all expressions of diversity.
Rebekah is a lover of the Northern Rivers community and regularly visits for the unique educational opportunities, ongoing friendships and for the inspiring activism of the region. In 2021, she attended a course on Dadirri- Ancient Aboriginal Mindfulness practices with Professor Judy Atkinson in Lismore and more recently finished the Death Walking weekend with Zenith Virago in Mullumbimby.
